Bio
I am the sole user on this ActivityPub/Fediverse instance using GoToSocial, a Golang-powered server that's way easier to get working than anything else I tried.
I'm a user of Fedora Kinoite, Debian, OpenBSD and AlmaLinux. Father, husband, garden-digger, guitar picker, cat herder and fixer of the broken and worn. Journalist by day.
The cat in my profile picture is a young Stripey 2. The cat in my avatar is an even younger Elton, whose mom is Stripey 2 and dad is (likely) Stripey 1 (RIP). We have a lot of cats around the house.

LA isn't all about old school diners/breakfast joints/delis, but they continue on, here and there.
This is More Than Waffles in Encino. I've never been before, but the coffee mugs say, "since 1976," and I believe it. HUGE omelet with gluten free pancake. Excellent. With a staff that is SO on their game.
Not cheap, but what is these days? Quality and quantity make it worth it.
This #GoToSocial instance is now running version 0.19.0.
I think this is the first full upgrade that didn't require any config.yaml changes, which makes the whole process much easier.
Since I'm all in on KDE Plasma in Fedora Kinoite, I'm dropping Tuba and picking up Tokodon as my desktop Fediverse client

Is the Tuba Fediverse client working? GoToSocial threw an error screen when i tried to authenticate.

Heard about this on #linuxlads. I'm excited.

Thank you, #GoToSocial developers, for a great Fediverse server that runs without me needing to think about it. The software is marked "beta," but it's been pretty stable.
I just got an Elk update in my browser. Elk is a great Fediverse client that happens to work very well with GoToSocial, the software running my instance. (And thanks to the GtS developers who helped make it happen.)
It's good to see development in Elk, and I hope it continues. Give it a try.
I've been playing with the Zola static site generator all week, and here's my first post with some of the things I've learned:

Fedora Silverblue 41 finally got the rsync update. A little later than I hoped for, but at least the patch is in.

Rsync updated on my OpenBSD 7.6-stable system, and I didn't even notice.
I should be trying openrsync, which I only recently learned exists.

One of the reasons I went with Fedora Silverblue was the perception that the Fedora Project and Red Hat seem keenly interested in working on and improving the system. The innovation and the engineering is a big part of Fedora, and I feel that continual push toward better tech.
One thing I learned about the Microsoft Edge web browser (on Windows 11 with a newish Thinkpad T14) is that there is a perceptible delay in the display of web pages. Looking at one of my HTML-only sites, I can feel the lag between clicking the link and seeing the content. I'll have to check Chrome on those same links, but I find that the system — which is my work laptop — performs pretty well overall with Chrome as the browser.
