: I thought I should post and pin this again since moving to my own instance. I would appreciate the boosts to get this federated as mush as possible.

I've been writing software for 25+ years spanning many different industries until landing in my current final role as founding member of @limeleaf@social.coop where I am doing some consulting projects in and while also building a few products such as https://apply.coop, https://limecast.net, https://blueskydirectory.com, and other federated/decentralized stuff. I try to get into some every once in a while for fun as well. I believe in , , , , and in all parts of life. You can read more about me on my website and reach out to me anytime you want!

Thanks for anyone who boosts this!

@blainsmith @limeleaf Thanks for reposting! I meant to ask you how it's going with snac? I'm kinda wanting to run my own 1-person instance...but...
    1. For cost savings reason, need it to be really lightweight enough to host on an inexpensive VPS provider
    2. I already manage too many other self hosted things...so am lazy if the management and upkeep is too much.

So, how is it going with snac? Or, is it too early to tell? Thanks in advance for any info u share! ๐Ÿ‘

@mxu@fosstodon.org So far it's been great and uneventful. I have it on a decent VM with other services as well behind Caddy. There's a few quirks with using some Android clients, but Tusky is doing just fine. I like the flat file storage and simple CLI management of it. There's no web UI for server admin so it can be pretty configurable via scripts or other programming languages. I'm exploring using snac2 to run a @jobs@apply.coop account for our https://apply.coop project like how FediMeteo does things.

@blainsmith Thanks so much! Good to hear that it works with Tusky - since that's the client I use. Also, I'm quite intrigued by the design decision of using flat files vs a database - sounds like it would simplify some data management aspects. Very interesting, all of it. Thanks again! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘

@mxu@fosstodon.org GoToSocial was my other choice and that's SQLite by default, but I wanted something a bit more basic/brutalist lol

@andywar65@opalstack.social Hahaha, funny how it was a question mark then of whether I do an MS degree. Here I am now 1 class away from graduating from Georgia Tech with an MS in CS haha. Time flies.
