about me
…swirls a curse or blessing. Righties and Romans (and cynics) might call me sinister, but i'm a nice guy—that's common. I score beyond scale on the Wechsler—that's uncommon, but i doubt it's gotten me very far.
I like challenges and work on ideas i think have promise in changing the world. I help organization adapt opensource software and use social computing in support of collaborative work. I rarely watch sports except to learn something in a sport i play. When i cycled and raced, i trained and rode 10000km yearly for years, until i burned myself out, but still i prefer doing to watching. I read anything and everything, from dictionaries and food labels to Internet news and blogs to documentation and manuals. If “we read to know we are not alone,” i must be awfully lonely —help, help!

âMeraki's mesh networks cover dramatically more geographic area and users than previous generations of wireless networks by relying on sophisticated mesh routing technology to increase range and network capacity. Instead of relying on a single large antenna to cover every user, each radio in a Meraki network cooperates to find the best path to carry a user's traffic to the Internet. As they operate, every network re-evaluates thousands of routing paths every minute, resulting in amazing reliability and network capacity. Meraki's intelligent mesh routing means every repeater you add extends the reach of the network and makes the mesh more reliable by adding additional links.â Saved By: John Lam | View Details | Give Thanks Tags: Internet, access, wireless, Wi-Fi, network, carrier, mesh routing, access point
Plaxo began as online address book and then calendar exchange, a way to maintain updates by letting users maintain their own profile and chose with whom they share it. This year Plaxo began offering lifestreaming, Pulse, aggregating comments from friends and affinity groups. It also maintains detailed profiles with distinct views for personal and professional lives, and shares them only within categories of contacts.

Designed for installation on blogs, Disqus becomes the comment system. It organizes comments around not only the blog, but also the comment and commentary, almost akin to lifestreaming services such as Jaiku and FriendFeed. Unlike lifestreams with comments, Disqus doesn't fracture the commentary; it is the commentaryâthe one designated by the author.

Unlike most lifestreaming services, LinkRiver not only aggregates my feeds for resyndication, but also aggregates all those i follow here. This yields a link view of items i find or might find of import.
